I am a 35-year-old mom of two who is seriously considering court reporting school. I had considered it about 10 years ago but then decided to go with medical transcription instead. Now that that field is completely dead in the water and I have been out of good solid work for over two years, thoughts of going back to school for court reporting have been invading my mind almost nonstop.I have already applied to an accredited school (not an online school) and have been accepted, but this will be a big risk and leap for me. I am nervous about spending so much money and time on a new career, particularly when my last career fizzled out so fast.So basically, I am looking for advice. Is it worth it for me to consider this? Will there be jobs available in a few years when I am done? Am I too old to be looking into this career field? Will I have any time to spend with my kids for the next 2-3 years, or will I pretty much eat, sleep and breathe court reporting (that last one was a half-joke)?Thanks in advance for any advice.
